What happens after the profile arrives matters as much as the section itself. Aluminum cuts, drills, taps, and countersinks with standard shop tooling, and it does so without the heat input and distortion that welding steel introduces into a finished assembly. That workability is one of the reasons fabricators order stock from Indonesian extruded aluminum manufactures instead of forming equivalents from sheet or plate. Extrusion also settles the geometry before the metal reaches the shop, delivering cavities, slots, and fin arrays that would each be a separate operation in steel.
PT Exalum Metal Indo extrudes at its Tangerang plant in Indonesia, supplying industrial and architectural customers at home and for export. The catalog of Exalummetal industrial aluminum products runs on section numbers, each a fixed profile that repeats identically whenever it is reordered, with 6-metre standard lengths and cut-to-size options for shops that prefer finished pieces. There are six profiles that make up most industrial requirements, here are the explanations.
1. Equal Angle
Equal angle reinforces corners and protects edges in rack frames, machine guarding, shelving, and architectural junctions. Section 20045 has a 19 mm leg at 0.80 mm wall, 0.081 kg per metre, and section 20043 is heavier at an 18 mm leg with a 2.00 mm wall, 0.184 kg per metre. Extruded from one billet, the corner keeps consistent grain structure and a true radius, where a folded sheet angle carries residual stress along the bend.
2. Rectangular Hollow
Rectangular hollow section resists twisting across its whole enclosed area, which suits fencing, canopy framing, balustrade infills, and equipment enclosures. Section 45062 is a light 20 by 10 mm at 0.80 mm wall, 0.120 kg per metre, and section 45184 is 60 by 15 mm in a 1.50 mm wall with a 0.40 mm radius, 0.585 kg per metre. Since stiffness rises with the cube of depth, turning the section onto its deep axis is often a cheaper fix than moving up a wall thickness.
3. Heatsink
Heatsink profiles manage thermal load in LED housings, power supplies, CPU cooling, and telecom hardware. Section 96006 runs a 1.00 mm wall at 0.223 kg per metre for compact assemblies, while section 96001 carries 1.25 mm fins at 0.799 kg per metre under heavier duty. Flatness on the mounting face matters as much as fin count, since air gaps between the base and the component undo the design. Fin options are listed on the Exalum product pages.
4. Conveyor Profile
Conveyor profile, or T-slot extrusion, gives a bolted modular frame in place of a welded one. Section 70360 is a double-slot rail at 1.20 mm wall, 1.095 kg per metre, and section 70015 is heavier at 2.50 mm wall, 1.764 kg per metre. The rail arrives pre-anodised, so a cut length is ready to assemble straight from the saw with no grinding, priming, or paint stage in between.
5. Flat Bar
Flat bar is the everyday stock for machine bases, mounting strips, spacers, and structural straps. Section 10031 is 25 mm by 3 mm at 0.203 kg per metre, and section 10203 is 25 mm by 8 mm with a 2.00 mm radius, 0.532 kg per metre. The solid cross-section takes drilling and tapping cleanly, with no thin wall to deform under the tool, which is why it is often specified where a hollow section would otherwise fit dimensionally.
6. Unequal Channel
Unequal channel retains panel edges while guiding movement on one axis, common in sliding tracks, furniture capping, and light panel framing. Section 32052 is 38.10 mm across the web with a 25.40 mm flange in a 0.90 mm wall, 0.212 kg per metre. The long flange takes fasteners behind the panel while the short one keeps the visible edge narrow, and the whole shape comes out of the die as one piece with no seam.
Standard sections remain the sensible default for industrial supply because the dies exist, tooling costs stay out of the quotation, and dimensions repeat without drift. Profile choice comes down to load, orientation, fabrication method, and finish, settled best at design stage.
Requesting a Quotation
For aluminum extrusion profiles in production quantities, Exalum Metal supplies volume orders from Indonesia to the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and other industrial markets.
