The expulsion decision for Bundestag representative Gerrit Huy was officially decided on October 9, 2026, under case number 88 O 155/25.

The Bundestag representative for the AfD, Gerrit Huy, has been permanently expelled from the Deutsche Parlamentarische Gesellschaft e. V. (DPG). The decision to remove Huy, a member of the Bundestag faction whose party is scrutinized for right-wing tendencies, follows a ruling by the Landgericht Berlin II. The court upheld the club’s decision to ban her, rejecting her lawsuit against the expulsion, which was officially decided on October 9, 2026, under case number 88 O 155/25.

Participation in a Controversial Event

Huy was expelled in April 2024 from the DPG, a club founded in 1951 that currently counts 129 members of the AfD parliamentary group among its ranks. The official reason for her removal was her attendance at the “Potsdamer Treffen” on November 25, 2023. This event took place at the Villa Adlon am Lehnitzsee and featured Martin Sellner, a representative of the Identitarian Movement. Reports indicate that the gathering discussed the mass “remigration” of immigrants and people with a migration background living in Germany.

The court’s ruling noted that Huy’s presence at this event publicly connected her with Sellner and his core ideas. By failing to distance herself from these positions after the fact, the court found she violated the ethical standards of the organization. The verdict confirmed that the publication of certain details regarding the meeting’s content, including claims about “taking away” citizenship, would be subject to ongoing legal scrutiny, but this did not alter the expulsion decision.

Legal Reasoning Behind the Ban

The court based its decision on the DPG’s statutes. The club declares its commitment to human dignity, cross-cultural understanding, and democratic principles. It explicitly rejects discrimination based on gender, race, origin, ethnicity, or religion. Because Huy did not publicly reject the fundamental theses presented by Sellner, her behavior, in the view of the court, gravely damaged the reputation of the DPG.

The 1951-founded organization resides in the former, around 1900-built Reichstag President’s Palace on Friedrich-Ebert-Platz, opposite the Reichstag plenary building. The association currently has approximately 2,000 members, including 519 of the 630 members of the Bundestag. The club seeks to build human, cultural, and political relationships among its members through working groups and cultural events. The building is equipped with splendid salons and fireplaces, as well as a pub. Bundestag deputies reach the palace via an underground tunnel, where they meet for exchanges in working groups, cultural events, summer festivals, and sometimes for exploratory talks for a new government coalition.

Future Legal Steps

Her exclusion was initially decided by the DPG board under the chairmanship of CDU politician Armin Laschet and was subsequently confirmed in a general meeting. The court emphasized that her affiliation with the AfD since September 2022 and her formal acknowledgment of the club’s goals in her application form meant she was bound by these commitments continuously. The rejection of her claim was final regarding the dismissal of the lawsuit, though the legal battle continues.
